Celebrities With Bad Tattoos

For people with disposable incomes, money does not always buy them quality tattoos. Celebrities have some of the worst tattoos I’ve seen. Most of these celebrities live in Los Angeles, a city bursting with tattoo art and culture. Tattoo artists such as Grant Cobb, Mark Mahoney, Dan Smith and Kat Von D (to name a few) reside there, artists which are known around the world.

How, in this day and age, do people, specifically celebrities, end up with such awful tattoos?

Below is a list of celebrities who have some of the worst body art in the entertainment industry -

Harry Styles - Where do I start? It's probably easier just to say there's not much good about them. Shocking placement and the possibility that some aren't done by actual tattoo artists.

Japanese Flowers and their Meanings

There's no denying the beauty of flora. Whether it be in nature, at home or in art, flowers. In human nature, flowers are used for celebrations, given as gifts for loved ones, and are a central part in funerals. They bring beauty to any occasion and as tattoos, when done right, look absolutely stunning.

It was attending the Tesselaar Tulip Festival which really renewed my love of flowers. Sitting there in fields of tulips brought a sense of calmness over me.

Life doesn't afford us all the luxury of spending our days surrounded by nature; so what's the next best thing?  Adorning your body with flower tattoos to have their beauty with you always. I'd love to add to my peony wrist tattoo and have a full sleeve of my favourite Japanese flowers

Design Personalised Rings with Industrial Strength

Industrial Strength is a company synonymous with jewellery for those with body modifications. Their quality and diverse range of products is why they're stocked in tattoo and body piercing studios around the world.

While I may currently be lusting after their septum clickers (I just need to save and actually get my septum pierced), I want to introduce you to another product of theirs; one which the pierced and non-pierced alike can enjoy.

It is these beauties:

Finger rings with interchangeable gems. They're so dainty and cute, and unlike gold and silver rings from your local jewellers, these are made from titanium.

Japanese Style Tattooing in Australia

Looking to get a Japanese style tattoo but don't live in Japan? Never fear, there are quite a few Australians who do the Japanese style of tattooing justice. Here are my favourites, some of whom are on my tattoo artist wishlist.

Japanese Mythical Creatures: Tattoo Inspiration

Click the image to buy the book.

Something that I like to do during my free time is read about Japanese mythical creatures. I find it all so fascinating: the art, the history, the stories associated with each and their connection to the world of tattooing.

I already have one Japanese creature tattooed on me (click here to see it), with plans for several more.

Dragons are probably the most common creature featured in tattooing, but there are hundreds more to discover. Here are my favourite Japanese mythical creatures.

Wrestling Inspired Tattoos

Wrestling, like-wise with tattoos, still has a stigma surrounding it. If you’re a wrestling fan you’ve probably experienced people making crass comments about it. Much the same with tattoos, people will offer you their opinion on them no matter whether you asked them to or not.

Tattoos can be identified by a style, colour/black and grey, or a theme dictated by an individual’s life experiences. Flash sheets often decorated the walls of a tattoo parlour; not so much anymore. Now tattoos are only limited by your (and your tattoo artist’s) imagination.

It comes as no surprise that die-hard wrestling fans have tattoos dedicated to their love of wrestling. The reason why someone would get a wrestling tattoo is not different to that of anyone else. Wrestling is something they enjoy, just like a person with a movie, music or sporting team tattoo.

You can't help but love this lil guy

[Magazine Review] Inked Australia/NZ Magazine: Issue 20

Not to be outdone by past issues, Issue 20 is packed full of interviews with tattoo artists, bands and with even more stunning art to drool over.

If anyone you knows says that tattoos aren't sexy, show them this month's cover.

My favourite feature this month has to be The Best Tattoos in Movies Ever (page 86). You may be surprised at just how many movie characters have sported some fake ink of some sort. Funnily, now the actors themselves are having to spend hours covering their recognisable tattoos for their roles. It would not be fun to be Angelina Jolie or Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Voting is now open for Miss Inked 2014. The finalists have been whittled down from the hundreds of entries, to the Top 10. Along with Inked Australia/NZ and Miss Inked 2013, Miss Tash, you, yes YOU get to vote for who you think should be crowned Miss Inked 2014.

To find out a little more about the Top 10, check them out in the magazine.
To vote, head to the Facebook page or check out the finalists on Instagram @inkedaustralia

Inked's resident tattooist, Kian Forreal shares his humbling experience of getting tattooed by the living legend, Horiyoshi III, and the honor of receiving a Japanese name, Horisumi.

This Nora Ligorano and Marshall Reese 'Fuck Snow Globe' (page 29) will be mine!!

If you've been thinking about subscribing to Inked Australia/NZ Magazine, think no longer. As if saving 30% off the cover price wasn't great enough, the current subscription gift may just twist your arm.

So, what is this amazing gift? A day-pass to your choice of the 2013 Perth or Melbourne Tattoo & Body Art Expo, or the 2014 Sydney Tattoo Expo.

No there's no excuse why you should be missing out on spending a day surrounded by some of the best tattoo artists from Australia and worldwide.
